BANGKOK, 23 (TNA) — The senior citizens in Thailand were able to check their eligibility to receive “10000 baht, Phase 2” via “Tang Rat” government application on Wednesday.
The recipients have to successfully register through the “Tang Rat” application only. Those eligible for the scheme will receive the cash transfer starting from January 27.
The target group is the persons who are Thai nationals and aged 60 years or older as of September 15, 2024. Not being a person with assessable income exceeding 840,000 baht for the 2023 tax year. Not being a person with total deposits exceeding 500,000 baht as of June 30, 2024. Not being a resident of a shelter under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security as of November 30, 2024.
Elderly people who are eligible to receive money from the project will receive 10,000 baht through a deposit account linked to PromptPay with their national ID number only.
In the event that the payment to the target group is unsuccessful the first time, the payment will be repeated to the target group three times. If the third attempt is unsuccessfully done, it will be assumed that the recipients no longer want to receive the cash. The eligible individuals can check whether the 10,000 baht is successfully transferred via “Tang Rat” application on the next day after the payment is started.
As for the third phase of the 10,000-baht cash handout scheme, the Ministry of Finance will test the system between February and March. If it is ready, the scheme can start by the second quarter. The elderly people who do not have smart phones with which to register using the “Tang Rat” app can register through other means.
Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat said that, he recommended the descendants to help their elders to their eligibility via “Tang Rat” app by filling in the user account or national ID number (Username) and password (Password) to “Log in” and press “Check registration status” for the 10,000 baht top-up project via Digital Wallet to enter the page showing the results of the project’s eligible persons.
Elderly people who are eligible to receive money from the project will see the welcoming message appeared on the mobile phone screens.
The system will ask the recipients to check their bank to see if the PromptPay account still has a normal status that can receive transfers to ensure that they are ready to receive the money on January 27.
After the qualification screening, there are totally 3.2 million senior citizens that can withdraw the cash handout promptly after the midnight of January 26. He says it is expected that the money will be poured into the system during the Chinese New Year around 30 billion baht.
