BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) – The Cabinet declared Nov 4-5 special holidays in Bangkok and Nonthaburi as Thailand is scheduled to host the 35th ASEAN Summit and related summits during Oct 31 –Nov 4.
A deputy spokeswoman of the Prime Minister’s Office, Trisulee Trisaranakul said the two-day special holiday was proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate providing security for ASEAN leaders.
The meetings will be held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province, adjacent to Bangkok. About 3,000 participants are expected to attend the meetings.
Regarding state enterprises, financial institutions and private companies, she said the Cabinet resolved that the Bank of Thailand, the Ministry of Labour and each state enterprise will make decisions whether any agencies should close on the designated holidays.
The units, which provide service for the public and the closure may affect their operations, should remain open to avoid any damage to the public and the state. (TNA)
