BANGKOK, Nov 6 (TNA) – Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang visited the parliament after attending the 35th ASEAN Summit on Nov 2-4 and the 22nd ASEAN-China Summit on Nov 3 and expressed his appreciation on longstanding bilateral relations.
Parliament President Chuan Leekpai, his deputies and opposition leader Sompong Amornwiwat welcomed the Chinese prime minister.
Mr Chuan said the Thai parliament was honoured with the Chinese prime minister’s repeated visit to the parliament. He also congratulated the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
The parliament president expressed his gratitude towards China’s assistance for Thailand and said that the Thai parliament formed a friendship group with the National People’s Congress of China to exchange visits and boost bilateral relations.
On the same occasion, Mr Chuan expressed his condolences on the boat tragedy in Phuket and sent his invitation for his Chinese counterpart Li Zhanshu to visit Thailand.
Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang referred to good bilateral ties at all levels and invited Mr Chuan to visit China. He also said that China supported cooperation between ASEAN and East Asia as well as their roles.
He was set to depart from Suvarnabhumi airport to return to China in the afternoon. (TNA)
