BANGKOK, DEC 4 (TNA) – Thailand’s National Shippers’
Council (TNSC) keeps its projection for export growth this year at 8 percent
but revises next year’s number down citing the impacts of US-China trade war.
TNSC Chairperson Ghanyapad Tantipipatpong said Tuesday the
Council viewed E-commerce as the brightest factor contributing to current
growth.
Thailand’s export outlook had been hampered by the
protectionist policies of the world’s largest economies affecting their trade
partners, she said.
The negative impacts would prolong uncertainly and generate
greater trade concerns, prompting the TNSC to predict lower growth next year at
5 percent, she added.
Thailand felt the ripple effect as part of the supply chain
while industrial output had also slowed down, said Ghanyapad.
In the first 10 months of this year, Thailand shipped
US$211.48 billion worth of goods, an 8.2 percent increase.(TNA)
