Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Thrusday morning arrived in Chiang Mai, where crowds welcome him back home after 17 years.

Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, released on parole yesterday has reported to public prosecutors as scheduled today after he filed a written petition for fair treatment in the lese majeste case related to his comments made in Seoul in May 2015.

Former premier Thaksin Shinawatra has been in the list of inmates granted parole, said Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong.

Members of the House Committee on police affairs have inquired about ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s extended hospital stay during their visit to Police General Hospital today.

The Police General Hospital agrees to allow the members of the House Committee on police affairs to visit and observe its operations on January 12 as requested, said the committee’s chairman Chaichana Detdecho.

The continued hospital stay of convicted ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra requires the medical opinion and the approval of the Director-General of the Corrections Department before it will be forwarded to Permanent Secretary for Justice and the Justice Minister for the final say.
