BANGKOK, Nov 9 (TNA) – ICONSIAM will be officially and grandly opened with a wide range of spectacular shows today.
Today it will be a gathering venue for a huge crowd of VIPs, celebrities, famous artists and Hollywood stars who will enter the complex on a red carpet.
They will be among the first visitors who will also include local and foreign journalists, 1,000 people selected from the ICONSIAM Explorer activity and representatives of nearby communities. After the official opening this evening, it will welcome the general public on Nov 10.
ICONSIAM director Chadathip Chutrakul said the 54-billion-baht ICONSIAM project was ready for the official opening to be a mega landmark showing Thailand’s prosperity by the Chao Phraya River. The company invests about 1 billion baht in the opening ceremony.
“The company is confident that ICONSIAM will be another project to help maintain the economic growth of areas along the Chao Phraya River and the whole nation and to support the beautiful and unique lifestyles, traditions and cultures of communities along the river,” she said.
ICONSIAM expects to welcome 150,000 visitors a day. About 70% of visitors will be Thai and 30% foreign tourists.
ICONSIAM managing director Supoj Chaiwatsirikul said seven big event organisers would jointly create spectacular shows for the opening this evening.
A highlight would be Thailand’s first show of 1,500 drones to form images. The number would be the biggest in Southeast Asia and more than drones used in the Winter Olympics in South Korea earlier this year. (TNA)
