BANGKOK, Sept 30 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha opened an extended route of the Blue Line electric railway from Hua Lamphong to Bang Kae.
The opening ceremony took place at the Tha Phra station. Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda and Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob accompanied the prime minister there.
Gen Prayut said he was pleased to open the extended route and it was a part of his government’s 20-year national strategy plan, aimed at solving traffic congestion in urban areas and improving people’s life.
After the opening, the prime minister’s delegation boarded an electric train to the Wat Mangkon station. From there, the prime minister walked to Yaowarat area to witness its vegetarian festival.
Then he visited Wat Mangkon Kamalawat. The abbot of the temple gave a Buddha amulet and a wooden Guan Yu image to the prime minister. Others in his delegation received Guan Yu images and talismans.
Many people took selfies with the prime minister in the urban trip. (TNA)
