BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) – The Thai Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with two upscale shopping complexes in Bangkok, is promoting selected and quality community products from the Thai Northeast, aimed to support the grassroots and to boost the national economic growth eventually.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Commerce Suchart Sinrat told journalists on June 17 that his ministry will organize two events to promote quality community products selected from a project on the development of the local processed industry and the comprehensive food industry in the Thai Northeast, run by his ministry, at the ICONSIAM shopping complex during June 19-23 and at the Central World shopping complex during July 3-7.
“Thais and foreign tourists are welcome to visit the events, where selected and quality community goods from many provinces in the Thai Northeast, including farm and processed farm products and geographical indication (GI) items, produced from local villagers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), will be on display and sale at over 60 booths”, Suchart said.
Suchart acknowledged that his ministry has resorted to innovations to help develop the production processes of the community products in the Thai Northeast and he, thus, believes that the selected products will meet the demands of visiting consumers and will then raise income and the quality of life of local producers.
According to the senior official, international visitors to the two events will also enjoy local cultural shows on stages. (TNA)
