BANGKOK, April 13 (TNA) – ICONSIAM shopping mall on the bank of Chao Phraya River holds its first celebration of Thai New Year in traditional style after it opened its door last year.
The festival features cultural performances, Songkran celebrations in four periods of Thai history and water splashing.
Golden water jars are placed around the water play zone, so revelers can fill their water guns or buckets easily.
People can pour scented water on highly- revered Buddha images of each Thai era for blessings in the traditional Buddha bathing ceremony.
The highlight of the festival at 5.00 p.m. today is a procession, portraying the cultural richness of Thai court culture in the Ayutthaya period.
Also, delicious food and desserts from all the four Thai regions as well as handicrafts and souvenirs are available for festival goers for eating and shopping. (TNA)
