BRUSSELS, Oct 19 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has invited the Netherlands and Norway to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), during his trip to attend the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Brussels, Belgium.
Gen Prayut is in Brussels for the 12th ASEM Summit and the EU-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting. First he met Thai authorities in Brussels to discuss the empowerment of Thailand.
Later he went to the European Council’s Europa building to meet Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
In his meeting with the Netherlands prime minister, Gen Prayut expressed interest in the Netherlands’ flood response technology as the Netherlands and Thailand stand in low-lying terrains and face the same risk of flooding.
He invited the Netherlands to explore investment opportunities related to the EEC as it has expertise in ports and logistics.
During his meeting with the Norwegian prime minister, Gen Prayut discussed bilateral cooperation on clean energy and garbage collection from the sea.
He also invited Norway to invest in electric vehicles, clean and alternative energy, telecommunications, medicines, medical treatment, biological technology, garbage disposal, waste-to-energy plants and marine transport.
Gen Prayut also said that Thailand was making progress in its politics and democratisation and, as the ASEAN chair next year, it would promote cooperation between ASEAN and Europe. (TNA)
