CHIANG RAI, DEC 12 (TNA)- The statue of the former Navy
seal who died during the rescue mission of Wild Boars footballer in July will
be paraded to Tham Luang cave on Thursday.
Cast in Ayutthaya province, the statue of Lt-Commander
Saman Gunan on Wednesday was transported to Wat Rong Khun, the starting point
of the Thursday’s parade that will take the statue past many landmarks of
Chiang Rai.
National artist Chalermchai Kositpipat will lead other
artists and Chiang Rai people in the parade to move the cast-iron statue to be
installed at a memorial pavilion in front of the cave.
The parade will stop at the King Mengrai Monument, Ban Du
Market and Suksasongkhro Mae Chan School before reaching the cave in Tham
Luang-Khun Nam Nang Nong Forest Park.
Lt-Commander Saman, also known as Ja Sam, was among Thais
and foreigners taking part in the rescue of the 12 Wild Boars and their
football coach from the flooded Tham Luang Cave in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai
district in June and July. (TNA)
