BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presented the Budget Bill for fiscal 2020 to the House of Representatives, insisting that it was designed to support national economy among other objectives.
The 2020 budget was set at 3.2 trillion baht. Gen Prayut said it was designed to respond to the situations of domestic and global economies and to serve 20-year national strategies.
According to the prime minister, security-related budgets were estimated at 428.19 billion baht, forming 13.4% of the whole budget. It included 88.72 billion baht for national defense, 5.35 billion baht for the security of important national institutions, 34.77 billion baht for internal security, and 10.86 billion baht for solutions in southern border provinces.
Besides, 380.80 billion baht, or 11.9% of the total budget, was set for national competitiveness. It would be spent on the development of farm products, special economic zones and transport.
Salaries of government officials will consume 431.34 billion baht, or 13.5% of the total budget, and 504.69 billion baht or 15.8% will be for bureaucratic reform. (TNA)
