UDON THANI, Sept 20 (TNA) – Organizations gave honorary certificates and scholarships to two students who risked their life while rescuing other students hit with electric shocks in floods. Meanwhile, provincial officials hurriedly installed solar lamps near schools to prevent such danger from recurring.
Udon Thani governor Siam Sirimongkol and officials concerned inspected electricity systems in public places and flood-prone areas behind Satrirachinuthit School in Udon Thani municipality where a student got an electric shock in rain and floodwater in the evening of Sept 16.
Municipal officials was installing at least 40 solar lamps costing 10,000 baht apiece on Sri Chom Chuen Road behind Satrirachinuthit, Udon Pittayanukoon and Anuban Udonthani schools to prevent electric shocks on people in times of rains and floods.
At Udonpichairak School, the president of the Udon Thani provincial administrative organization presented an honorary certificate and scholarship to Pratya “Boss” Jaiboon, a 17-year-old student of the school. He resuscitated a 15-year-old schoolgirl of Satrirachinuthit School who was hit by an electric shock behind her school in a flooded area amid rain.
At Udonthani Technical College, Atthachai “Bas” At-udom, its 19-year-old student, received an honorary certificate and scholarship after rescuing a 12-year-old schoolboy of Udon Pittayanukoon School who got an electric shock at the back gate of Satrirachinuthit School. Mr Atthachai also suffered an electric shock at the moment of his heroic act. (TNA)
