BANGKOK, Sept 30 (TNA) – Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will visit flooded areas in Nonthaburi province this afternoon.
Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said the prime minister’s delegation would board a boat at the pier of the Pak Kret municipal office and inspect flood situations and the construction of floodwalls on Koh Kret island of Pak Kret district.
Then the delegation will go to the pier of Talad Khwan market in Muang Nonthaburi district to meet and hand out essentials to people of the Talad Khwan community where there are about 60 houses outside floodwalls.
Meanwhile, the National Water Resources Committee warned that downstream water levels would rise in Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Pathum Thani and Bangkok from Oct 1 to 5 as Chao Phraya and Pa Sak Jolasid dams raised their discharge rates.
Water levels will rise by 1.20-2.40 meters outside the reservoir of the Pa Sak Jolasid dam and 2.30-2.80 meters outside the Rama VI dam between Oct 1 and 5. (TNA)
