BANGKOK, Feb 19 — Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing concern, urging all parties to respect human rights and international humanitarian law, demanding an end to violence against civilians in Libya.
Sek Wannamethee, spokesman of the ministry, said the statement stressed that Thailand is deeply concerned by the continued violence in Libya which has gravely affected both Libyan civilians and foreign nationals in the country.
The statement says that Thailand calls on all sides to strictly respect human rights and international humanitarian law, particularly putting an immediate end to any act of violence against innocent civilians in Libya.
The statement reads that Thailand fully supports international efforts, especially the UN-led mediation between all parties concerned, in order to achieve a peaceful solution and restore calm and stability to Libya and the region. (MCOT online news)
