BANGKOK, March 6 (TNA) — Eleven factories agree to produce 30 million cloth masks for free distribution, according to the Industry Ministry.
Kobchai Sangsitthisawat, permanent secretary for industry, said 11 companies were interested in the free cloth mask project of the Industry Ministry. It would present details of the project to the cabinet on March 10 and the production could start afterwards, he said.
According to him, the Industry Ministry plans to hand out 30 million cloth masks to 10 million people in greater Bangkok and other highly populated cities.
The Thai Textile Institute, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, the Federation of Thai Industries and other relevant associations will supply 1.5 million yards of safe and standard cloth for the production of cloth masks that can screen out fine dust and germs. The participating factories will produce 10 million masks within this month.
Mr Kobchai said the Industry Ministry ordered its provincial offices to push for the quick production of medical masks, cloth masks, hand sanitizer gel and disinfectants including alcohol to meet demand. (TNA)
