BANGKOK, Dec 14 (TNA) – About 150 policemen were mobilized to cope with the rally that Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit planned at Pathumwan intersection on Saturday evening. Participants have been warned to obey rules and protect others’ rights.
Pol Col Krisana Patanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Office, said the Metropolitan Police Division 6 and the Pathumwan police station were prepared to secure order in the rally that Mr Thanathorn planned on the skywalk in Pathumwan area.
He advised demonstrators to respect the law and take precautions because, he said, the activity could be considered as instigating disorder.
Demonstrators must not violate the rights of other people, Pol Col Krisana said.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau mobilized 150 policemen to handle the situation but had not estimated the number of participants yet, the deputy spokesman said.
If the Public Assembly Act is violated, the leader of the rally might be prosecuted, Pol Col Krisana said.
In another development, officials from the Office of the Election Commission (EC) filed the comssion’s request for the disbandment of the Future Forward Party with the Constitution Court.
The EC on Dec 11 considered a report from its investigative committee looking into Mr.Thanathorn’s 191-million-baht loan to his own political party. After the considreation, the commission decided to ask the Constitution Court to disband the Future Forward Party. (TNA)
