BANGKOK, Dec 23 (TNA) – The police issued summons for Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit and a party member to acknowledge charges in relation to the Dec 14 flash mob in the Skywalk at Pathumwan intersection.
Thanathorn and Pairatchote Chantarakhachorn have been summoned to report to the police at the Pathumwan police station on Dec 27.
The one-hour rally was joined by thousands of people on the skywalk, lining the two BTS skytrain stations – Siam and national Stadium.
The so-called flash mob was staged after the Election Commission (EC) had asked the Constitutional Court to dissolve the Future Forward Party on the grounds the party accepted 191- million-baht loan from Thanathorn, considered illegitimate and against an organic law on political parties.
Meanwhile, the police plan to issue summons for three others, involving in organizing the rally – the party’s secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, the party’s spokeswoman, Pannika Wanich and Pita Limjaroenrat.
Due to their MP status, the police will ask for permission from the parliament president before issuing the summons as they are taking part in the 2nd ordinary session of Parliamentary Assembly.
Investigators considered the evidence and found that the rally organisers violated the law on public gatherings by failing to inform police about the rally beforehand. The rally obstructed passengers from using the train service and the leaders used loudspeakers without permission from authorities. (TNA)
