BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) – Future Forward Party candidate Srinual Boonlue won by a big margin in Sunday’s re-election at Chiang Mai’s Constituency 8, according to the Election Commission (EC)’s unofficial results.
Srinual garnered more than 75,000 votes, leading her contestant from Palang Pracharat Party, Nares Thamrongtipayakhun, who received about 27,000 votes in the second place.
The EC reported voter turnout was 78 per cent of all 160,000 eligible voters.
After the landslide win of Future Forward party, two other parties – Palang Pracharat and Democrat – will have one additional party-list MP each from the votes they got in the new election.
Now, 500 seats in the Lower House are complete.
The re-election was held after the EC disqualified the winning Pheu Thai party candidate Surapol Kietchaiyakorn in the last election for violating the election law by giving money to a prominent monk.
He is banned from politics for one year. (TNA)
