BANGKOK, Oct 3 (TNA) – Researchers at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang have developed high-tech push carts for vendors, selling ready-to-eat fresh fruit and grilled pork skewers to raise the standard of Thailand’s street food.
The high-tech push carts improve food hygiene for consumers and are more environment friendly, compared to conventional push cards.
The newly-designed fruit push cart separates ice from fruit but can still keep freshness of fruit all day. A special hole is added to keep fruit waste for cleanliness.
The grilled pork cart is equipped with smoke trap filter to prevent smoke emission, grease trap and water filtration system to manage waste water. It is also installed with solar-powered light.
The smokeless charcoal grill absorbs moisture from water, passing cooking grill grid to prevent generating smoke from charcoal grill. Vendors can easily find a location for selling charcoal grilled pork when it does not produce smoke to surrounding areas.
A robotic arm was developed to put pork sticks on the grill grid. The automatic rotating grill machine takes six minutes to cook pork and the mechanical arm will remove well-done pork, ready for serving.
Suchatvee Suwansawat, dean of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang said that the innovation will upgrade Thai street food to guarantee its sanitary and promote local food among tourists. (TNA)
