BANGKOK, July 4 (TNA) – The next government will continue
its task to promote Small- and Medium-Enterprises, says former Minister of
Industry Uttama Savanayana.
Uttama, the leader of Palang Pracharath Party who is tipped
to be the next finance minister, made the remark at the opening of The Smart
SME Expo 2019 on Thursday.
He said the next government would provide assistance to SMEs
as well as franchises with funding, business knowledge and networking.
Crucial to SMEs development was transformation to adopt
digital technology in doing business in order to promote their competitiveness,
he said.
Government and private organizations have jointly organized
the Smart SME Expo 2019 from Thursday to Sunday to exhibit products and
innovations for SMEs. The Expo gives
business matching opportunities for prospective SMEs operators.
SMEs participating at the fair are offered special loans
from financial institutes for starting up or expanding their businesses. Organizers estimate Bt2.3 billion worth of
loan to be approved at the Expo.
Hundreds of SMEs in food & beverage, cosmetics and
health as well as franchises display their products at IMPACT Muang Thong
Thani.
The event is expected to generate more than Bt500 million.
