BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) – The Thai Industries Sentiment
Index (TISI) dropped for the first time in four months in April to 95.0 points
on world economic slowdown and trade war concerns.
The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) reported the results
of its latest survey of business operators in 45 industries.
FTI Chairman Suphan Mongkholsuthee said that the TISI
reflected operators’ concerns over many negative factors including drought,
global economic outlook, China-US trade dispute and the uncertain political
situation.
Meanwhile, Thai auto exports in April shrunk to the 24-month
low, down 7.52 percent in April.
FTI’s automobile group spokesman Surapong Paisitpatanapong
said that Thailand exported 67,144 cars in April, 89.28 percent of the total
output for export.
Business executives expressed their hope for a smooth
transition to a civilian administration that will boost confidence in the
country’s economy.(TNA)
