BANGKOK, Oct 25 (TNA) — The government’s second-phase cash giveaway project is attracting an overwhelming number of consumers and vendors.
Charnkrit Detwithak, vice minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, said the 1-million-applicant quota of Oct 24, the first day of the second-phase cash handout scheme, was fully reserved. He expected the second day’s quota to be reached as well. The second-phase cash giveaway scheme was aimed at continuously stimulating the economy and targeted 3 million consumers.
Many small and large store operators were inquiring about the second-phase scheme. The Comptroller-General’s Department was improving the scheme’s system and criteria and would receive applications from operators from Nov 1, Mr Charnkrit said.
Operators could leave their applications at the provincial branches of the department right away and they would be processed from Nov 1, he said.
Operators were highly satisfied with the first-phase cash giveaway scheme because their sales rose by 30-100% and the government would receive operators’ applications for the second-phase scheme until Dec 31, Mr Charnkrit said. (TNA)
