BANGKOK, Sept 15 (TNA) – Public prosecutors indicted Wirach Ratanasate, Palang Pracharath Party list MP and chief government whip, and 86 others for alleged corruption in futsal field projects in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The case reached the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions. Earlier the National Anti-Corruption Commission pressed a corruption charge against Mr. Wirach, accusing the then Pheu Thai Party MP and 86 others of misappropriating a 4.46-billion-baht budget in the 2012 fiscal year allocated for the construction of futsal fields in 18 provinces including Nakhon Ratchasima. Later new futsal fields in Nakhon Ratchasima proved to be substandard and unusable.
Of the accused people, 81 reported to public prosecutors but six others postponed the meeting citing COVID-19 outbreaks and their roles as House representatives as their excuses.
The general assembly of the Supreme Court will later decide if the court should accept the case for trial and should suspend the duties of the concerned holders of political positions. (TNA)
