BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) – Evidence from the explosion in front of Chamchuri Square building on Saturday was similar to that collected from several previous explosions, said the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.
Referring to the explosion on Jan 16 when four people were injured, Pol Lt Gen Pakapong Phongpetra said that on Jan 16 police arrested six demonstrators comprising two from the Victory Monument and four from the area in front of Samyan Mitrtown building. The arrests were done in accordance with the Communicable Disease Act and had nothing to do with the explosion.
Police found that flash powder was used in the explosion and last night police seized an explosive in Samut Prakan province and it had the same components with the bomb used on Saturday, Pol Lt Gen Pakapong said.
It was reported that the bomb at Chamchuri Square building was similar to bombs used by vocational students and a bomb thrown opposite SCB Park Plaza earlier.
Detectives were targeting a suspect in Thon Buri area and were collecting more evidence to support investigation. (TNA)
