BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) – Leaders of anti-government demonstrations were released and vowed to return to their rally.
They included Anurak “Ford” Jentawanit, head of the Red Path Group, whom the court released after rejecting Lumpini police’s request for his longer detention. He said he was thankful for legal affairs assistance from Pheu Thai Party MPs and the Lawyers Council.
Another rally leader, Nathanon Duangsungnoen, said he was happy that the court released him and it was evident that people could depend on the court. He said he was searched and arrested when he was approaching police to lay a white ribbon.
The court dismissed detention requests from police and released eight demonstration leaders because their residences were clearly known and they were unlikely to escape. Before leaving the court, they insisted that they would join another demonstration this evening.
The United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration told demonstrators to be at all electric train stations at 3pm.
The MRT electric railway network stopped its Blue Line service at all stations at 12.30pm and the BTS electric train service also closed service at all stations. (TNA)
