BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) – The Thai government has been
prepared to cushion the impact of the US-Iran conflict on the country’s
economy, says Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
Somkid on Tuesday urged the public to remain calm amid fears
of escalating conflicts in the wake of the US assassination of Iranian top
general Qassem Soleimani on Friday.
He gave assurance of Thailand’s preparedness and strong
economic fundamentals.
State agencies had stayed vigilant and constantly been in
close coordination, said Somkid without providing details.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong said the
Ministry had been ready to impose measures when necessary.
He said Thailand’s state oil fund had cash of over THB40
billion on hands while the current crude oil reserves was of 50 days.
The minister revealed that the state oil fund committee
planned a meeting on Friday to discuss the matter and promised to inform the
public on the situation. (TNA)
