BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon ordered all concerned organizations to implement their security measures up to international standard for the 35th ASEAN Summit that was set for Nov 2-4.
Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanit, spokesman of the Defence Ministry, said Gen Prawit ordered security authorities to coordinate measures with concerned governmental organizations to guarantee security for the ASEAN Summit. Concerned organizations must be on standby and keep their security measures up to international standard, the spokesman said.
“Gen Prawit instructed intelligence officers to intensify their work to protect the image and credibility of Thailand. They must work closely with security organizations. He also instructed the Interior Ministry to work with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the police and relevant governmental organizations to check surveillance cameras in greater Bangkok. Border checkpoints connected to land, water and air transport must be integrated to ensure efficiency,” Gen Kongcheep said.
Governmental organizations would join forces with partners in the civil sector to watch out for suspects and prepare swift responses to situations, he said. (TNA)
