NANNING, Sept 9 (TNA)– The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has inaugurated a new International Communication Center, aiming to enhance its communication and cooperation with countries across the globe, particularly those in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The center, officially opened on September 6, was attended by representatives from major media outlets in 10 ASEAN member states.
Chen Yijun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangxi Committee, emphasized that the center would facilitate the implementation of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China’s decision to build an effective international communication system.
“The establishment of the Guangxi International Communication Center under cooperation from Guangxi Daily and Guangxi Radio and Television will promote effective information exchange and cooperation between China and international media, and enhance China-ASEAN relations and cooperation with other countries, leading to greater mutual understanding among the people,” Chen said.
As a gateway to ASEAN, Guangxi has played a pivotal role in fostering deeper exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN member states.
In recent years, the region has leveraged its geographical advantages, close relations, and cultural ties to actively seek new cooperation opportunities and promote people-to-people exchanges for mutual benefit.
Located in southwestern China, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is home to 57 million people and is one of China’s most renowned provinces for environmental conservation. It boasts the second largest mangrove forest in the country and ranks third in terms of biodiversity.
As the only Chinese province bordering both land and sea with ASEAN, Guangxi is a strategic economic and trade region.
Additionally, Guangxi is the only Chinese region bordering both land and sea with the ASEAN region. The strategically important Beibu Gulf serves as a maritime Silk Road, connecting China to the global market for over 2,000 years.
Today, the gulf houses over 200 ports and serves as a major shipping hub for trade between China and 100 countries worldwide. ASEAN has been Guangxi’s largest trading partner for the past 24 years. -819 (TNA)
