BANGKOK, Aug 22 (TNA) – A meeting on anti-piracy of
digital content is held in Bangkok to discuss pirated digital content problems
that have caused damages to the industry.
Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion
(DITP) in partnership with the private sector organized the “Bangkok Digital
Content Anti-Piracy Summit” on Thursday.
DITP Director-General Tassaphol Tangsubutr said the piracy
of digital content such as illegal transmission of TV programs caused huge
damage to the digital content industry.
The forum provided an opportunity for public agencies and
private businesses to discuss the piracy of digital content and find ways to
protect intellectual property rights, he said.
The Thai government was determined to promote the digital
content industry in Thailand, which last year reached Bt26 billion, Tassaphol noted.
To meet demand for digital content as well as business
development, anti-piracy measures was instrumental to ensure growth in the
industry, he added.
With the view that Thai entrepreneurs in the digital content
industry have high potential and capability, the government looks to drive the
country to become a digital content industry hub.(TNA)
