BANGKOK, Aug 9 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha presided over the opening of the new BTS station, part of the Green Line extension to northern Bangkok.
The Ha Yeak Lat Phrao station, which extends from the Mor Chit station of the BTS skytrain’s Sukhumvit line will start the trial run for the public at 3 pm. today.
The service will be free of charge during the test run and will be available during rush hour from 7 am-9am. and 4.30 pm.-20.30pm.
It is expected about 70,000-80,000 passengers will use the new station service daily.
From the newly –opened Ha Leak Lat Phrao station, commuters can connect to the subway or MRT’s Phaholtyothin station, so the opening of the new BTS station will help alleviate traffic congestion at Lat Phrao intersection and on Phaholyothin and Vibhavadi-Rangsit roads.
The Green Line electric train project will run from Mor Chit to Saphan Mai and Khu Khot in Pathum Thani province when it fully operate in December 2020, ahead of the original schedule in July 2021.
Four more stations will be opened to reach Kasetsart University at the end of this year. (TNA)
