BANGKOK, Aug 5 (TNA) – The new parliament has raised the security level with CCTV camera installation and riot police reinforcement will be on standby in case of an emergency as the first session at the new complex in Kiak Kai area is scheduled on Aug 7.
Deputy House speaker, Suchart Tancharoen submitted a letter, asking the police to manage traffic and to provide security at the new parliament after the relocation from the temporary venue at the TOT Headquarters on Chaengwattana Road.
The new parliament opened its doors today and it serves at least 5,000 people a day.
Pol. Col. Itthichet Wonghomhuan, superintendent of the Bang Pho police station inspected the site and discussed security plans with officials from related agencies.
He ordered his subordinates to direct traffic at the entrance of the new parliament and riot police reinforcement will be on standby. However, there has been no report of any irregularity so far, he said.
Only a part of the new complex has been in use and the situation will be definitely under control, he added.
CCTV cameras will be installed at the entrance of the parliament to record the registration plates of all vehicles, entering the premises. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s CCTV cameras, surrounding the complex will be checked to ensure they are fully functional.
House Speaker, Chuan Leekpai also checked readiness of the meeting hall, the control room and observed the senate meeting there today. (TNA)
