BANGKOK, June 10 (TNA) – Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong has issued a warning for Thai nationals, residing in Hong Kong to avoid the protest areas as clashes broke out between Hong Kong police and anti-extradition law demonstrators on Monday.
Several hundred riot police sealed off the Legislative Council, where debates will start on Wednesday to pass a controversial bill to allow suspects to be extradited to China.
Police used batons and pepper spray at protesters and the clash left several people from both sides injured.
An estimated one million protesters took to the street on Sunday in a march against the extradition bill.
The large numbers of protesters caused very crowded public transports particularly in these areas – Admiralty, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.
Tourists are advised to spare their time for travelling to the airport. (TNA)
