BANGKOK, Dec 17 (TNA) — Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Grisada Boonrach today instructed the Royal Irrigation Department to speed up water alleviation in Nakorn Si Thammarat and Narathiwat provinces.
Mr Grisada stated that the Royal Irrigation Department has reported that the flood situation in Thailand’s southern provinces is improving as water levels are stable with signs of reduction.
The minister stated that the Department will be taking the advantage of the lower sea level to drain the flood water as quickly as possible becuause the Meteorological Department has projected that there would be more rain later today and tomorrow.
Reservoirs’ capacity in the region have been inspected and there are still a lot more space for the additional water to be filled in and it could be assured that there will be no overflows. (TNA)
