BANGKOK, Nov 15 (TNA) – Labour Minister Adul Sangsingkeo instructed officials at Thai embassy in Israel to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to Thai laborers.
The minister expressed his concern over the plight of Thai laboureres due to the rocket and mortar attacks in southern Israel since Nov11.
He held a teleconference meeting with Sakdinath Sonthisakyothin Minister Counsellor (Labour) at Thai embassy in Tel Aviv and instructed him to give assistance to Thai labourers, affected by the fighting.
No Thai workers were injured or killed in the incident. The embassy issued a warning for Thai labourers to be prepared for a possible evacuation and follow the updates on the current situation.
The workers are advised to stay in group and select their group representatives to coordinate with Thai officials there. They were instructed to review safety guidelines and follow advice of Israeli officials.
According to the employment department, 26,799 Thais are working in Israel.
The minister said his ministry will provide assistance and protection for Thai workers to ensure they receive proper welfare under the employment contracts of local law. (TNA)
