PATTANI, Dec 27 (TNA) – Pattani is currently experiencing extensive flooding due to the overflow of water from Narathiwat and Yala provinces.
The recent heavy flooding in Narathiwat and Yala has expanded and is now impacting Pattani province. The water from Narathiwat has flowed into the Saiburi River, causing a rapid rise in water levels and flooding houses along the riverbanks in four districts: Kapho, Thung Yang Daeng, Sai Buri, and Mai Kaen.
The flooding has affected villages, with Pattani province declaring a disaster in eight districts, impacting over 8,300 households and about 25,000 villagers who are facing hardships.
Meanwhile, in Yala province, although the rain has stopped, some flooded areas have seen a reduction in water levels, while others continue to rise.
Residents in the old market area are concerned that the water is rising quickly, hoping it won’t be as severe as in 1988. However, the water is expected to continue increasing in some high-risk areas.
So far, seven districts have been affected, impacting nearly 7,000 households or more than 27,000 local residents.
More than 100 households evacuated, involving 520 people. Additionally, 24 roads and 1 bridge have been affected by the flooding. -819 (TNA)
