with Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday.
The EC called the meeting with representatives of political
parties in order to clarify the regulations for election campaigns,
particularly the limits of individual candidate election spending at Bt2
million and Bt70 million baht for political parties.
After notifying the political parties of the limits, the EC
received responses from 13 parties; 11 of them agreed while two suggested
lowering the spending limits, EC officials said.
Seventy seven parties represented at the meeting also
discussed other regulations including the use of digital media and traditional
media for election campaign.
Other details of the organic law on lower house election
were also being clarified in the meeting.
The EC will also elaborate the details of all election process in a
press conference after the meeting.
The ruling military junta has proposed holding general
election on February 24 and lifted ban on political activities imposed since
the 2014 military coup.
According to the government’s plan, it will issue a royal
decree to hold an election in January to allow the EC to officially announce
the poll date. (TNA)
