BANGKOK, June 17 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has assured that the government would base its decision on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on public and national interest.
Government spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat said the prime minister told the cabinet of his stance.
The spokesperson quoted him as saying that CPTPP was a free trade agreement that covered products, services, common standards and regulations, intellectual property protection, labor standards, environmental laws, and mechanisms to resolve conflicts between governments and foreign investors.
The prime minister emphasized that the government would prioritize public and national interest in its CPTPP negotiations. Without the intended interest, the government would not sign the agreement, so people should not be concerned about the issue, the government spokesperson said. (TNA)
