CHONBURI, May 8 (TNA) – Pattaya city will block access to
beaches at nine locations from Sunday to May 31 in an effort to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
After the Pattaya City Municipality issued the order on
Thursday, Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome inspected the beach entrances on
Friday.
He told reports that all beaches, pier and public parks
would be off-limit; only pavements along the shore would remain open for people
to work out or jogging.
Beach entry for all activities would be totally banned, he
said.
Violators are subject to up to 100,000–
baht fine and/or no more than one year in jail.
Officials have placed barricades at Pattaya beach, Jomtien
beach, Phra Thamnak beach, Cosy beach, Wong Amat beach, Krathing Rai beach, Lan
Phor Na Kluea public park and the grounds of Bali Hai pier.
Sonthaya said the order was in line with provincial
communicable disease committee. (TNA)
