BANGKOK, Sept 16 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was deeply concerned about the conditions of flood victims and ordered best assistance for them although he did not pay a visit, his staff announced.
The Facebook page Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha made the announcement as many people were asking through social media why the prime minister was not visiting flood victims.
The Facebook page answered that the prime minister did not want to keep local officials busy with receiving him and prevent them from helping flood victims at their best.
“The prime minister is really worried. When there are opportunities, he will surely see you. Now it is time for everyone in government, private and civil sectors to help one another. Please do not dramatizing it,” the page replied.
The prime minister gave moral support to affected people and was grateful to all officials who were helping flood victims, it said.
Government spokesperson Naruemon Pinyosinwat said the prime minister prioritized assistance for flood victims. He ordered immediate aid including evacuation, shelters, food, water and medical care and would work out the best of repair and physical and mental rehabilitation after floods end, she said.
“The government will pay financial assistance in accordance with regulations. It includes aid for affected everyday life and damaged farmland and farming equipment,” Ms Naruemon said. (TNA)
