BANGKOK, April 7 (TNA) – The Supreme Court found MP Pareena Kraikupt guilty of serious misconduct for forest reserve encroachment, revoked her MP status, suspended her electoral rights for 10 years and banned her from electoral candidacy and any political position for life.
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions laid down its ruling on Pareena who was the Palang Pracharath Party’s representative of Ratchaburi province. She was found guilty of encroaching on 711 rai of a forest reserve on the left bank of the Pachi River in Chom Bung district of Ratchaburi. The encroachment caused 36.2-million-baht damage to the state and was serious misconduct.
The court ended her MP status retroactively from March 25, 2021, suspended her electoral rights for 10 years and banned her from running for an election and assuming any political position for the rest of her life.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission filed the forest encroachment case with the court on March 25, 2021, and on the same day the court suspended her from her MP duties. (TNA)
