BANGKOK, Dec 16 (TNA) – A 45-year-old man was killed by a wild elephant from Khao Ang Rue Nai National Park on Sunday.
The incident occurred in a sugarcane field in Kabinburi district.
Local police, along with officials from the Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary and rescue volunteers, responded to the scene. The victim’s body was found approximately 50 meters away from his shoes, hat, and motorcycle, which were parked near a canal.
According to the victim’s brother-in-law, who witnessed the incident, the two had come to the field to cut sugarcane.
While operating a tractor, the brother-in-law spotted a large male elephant with tusks about a foot long in the sugarcane field. He turned the tractor away to retrieve some food but upon returning, he saw his brother-in-law running from an elephant. The victim was unable to escape and was fatally injured. -819 (TNA)
