SARABURI, May 16 (TNA) – A 70-year-old woman has ordered a custom-made Labubu gold pendant for her collection as similar orders were placed, leading to a surge in sales at a gold shop in Saraburi province.
Alisa Chelermwanichkul, 37, owner of the Phetmangkorn Gold Shop at a market in Phra Buddhabat district, said that the shop has received a large number of orders for the Labubu gold pendant, which is made of 99.99% gold. The price of the pendant weighing 2-3 grams is around 8,000-9,000 baht, and the shop has already received 80 orders.
The shop will make the Labubu in two styles: a pendant and a ring. The majority of the customers who have placed orders are teenagers, as it is currently popular among this age group.
However, this morning there was a heartwarming incident when a 70-year-old customer came to order a Labubu pendant for her collection. She brought a picture of the doll to show the shop, and the shop was happy to accommodate her request.
Labubu is a popular character designed by a Hong Kong artist, Kasing Lung. It’s a small creature with pointed ears, sharp teeth, and a mischievous grin, but is said to be kind-hearted.
Kasing Lung has partnered with POP MART, a Chinese toy company, to release multiple successful Labubu collectible series. These series have been well-received by fans worldwide.
The Labubu art toy particularly the “Labubu Macaron” version, saw a significant rise in popularity after a famous Thai K-pop star, Lisa, posted a picture with it on social media. -819 (TNA)
