BANGKOK, Feb 27 (TNA) – The mother of the eight-month-old boy confessed to throwing the body of her son into the river after she accidentally had dropped him and found him dead in the next morning, said Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn.
However, the police do not believe her account and will further interrogate her, he said.
A multidisciplinary team is questioning the mother, who is 17 years old.
Divers will search for the boy in a canal, where the mother said she had dumped the body there. A backhoe is removing trash and tree branches to clear the way for the search operation.
The baby boy went missing on Feb 5 from his home in Nakhon Pathom province. His mother, Nim claimed that her son was taken by someone in a yellow shirt while she was taking a nap in her house. She later said the yellow-shirt man did not exist.
The extensive searches by the police and volunteers have found no traces of the missing boy so far. (TNA)
