SURIN, Aug 15 (TNA) – Thailand’s army is searching for a soldier who allegedly shot two people in the northeastern province of Surin.
According to a statement, Pvt. Rattaphum of the 1623rd Infantry Company left his post without permission on August 15, taking his rifle and ammunition. Shortly after, two men were shot near Wat Ban Khuean Kaeo in the Kab Choeng district.
Anuchat, 32, was hospitalized with a serious lung injury, and Wutthana, 35, sustained minor injuries. Both are in stable condition.
The army has launched a search for the suspect and urged residents to report any suspicious activity. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.
In the latest development, the body of the soldier who shot villagers has been found. It’s believed he took his own life with a firearm about 200 meters from the scene. Authorities are currently clearing the area to retrieve the body.-819 (TNA)
