BANGKOK, Jan 13 (TNA) – The National Anti-Corruption Commission decided to bring to the Supreme Court a 240-million-baht budget allocation case against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
NACC secretary-general Niwatchai Kasemmongkol said the commission resolved to file the case against Yingluck, Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan, Suranand Vejjajiva, Matichon pcl, Siam Sport Syndicate pcl and Ravi Lohtong in the allegedly illegal budget allocation for the Roadshow to Thailand’s Future Thailand 2020 campaign.
Mr Niwatchai said the anti-graft panel should be able to bring the case to the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions in two weeks. Previously public prosecutors rejected indictment on the case, claiming lack of evidence, but the NACC stood firm there was enough evidence.
On July 22, 2020, the NACC found that the 240-million-baht budget allocation resulted in a waste of the national budget and violated Sections 151 and 157 of the Criminal Code, many sections of the NACC law and a law concerning price offers to state agencies. (TNA)
