BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) – Thailand reported nine new coronavirus cases in state quarantine, raising the total cases to 3,709.
The newly-confirmed cases arrived from the UAE, the US, Morocco, Portugal, Sudan and Oman.
Out of the total, 3,495 cases recovered and 155 cases are being treated at hospitals. The death toll remained at 59.
As Thailand has started reopening for tourists under the Special Tourist Visa (STV) scheme, Chonburi province has prepared to pioneer the exclusive travel area, offering health tourism.
Director–General of the Department of Health Service Support, Thanes Kassanairawiwong, head of provincial public health office, Dr. Apirat Katanyutanon met Chonburi governor Pakarathorn Tieanchai to be briefed on the province’s policy on driving the economy by health services.
The province is ready to provide medical treatment for foreigners with qualified alternative hospital quarantine and wellness quarantine. Massage and spa service and food with anti-viral properties will be promoted to attract tourists.
The results of the meeting will be proposed to the committee, chaired by Public Health Minister Anutin Charnwirakul to consider establishing Chonburi as the model province under the Thailand medical hub policy. (TNA)
