BANGKOK, Nov 7 (TNA) –The Marine Department is ready to ensure safety for local people and tourists nationwide during the Loy Krathong festival on Nov 11.
Deputy Transport Minister Atirat Ratanasate said the Transport Ministry ordered the Marine Department to implement safety measures and ensure conveniences for the people and tourists who would celebrate the Loy Krathong festival at piers nationwide.
Marine Department director-general Witthaya Yamuang said the department set up a waterway safety centre at its CCTV control facility to boost public safety during the festival.
The department also prepared its inspectors and patrol boats to facilitate water traffic and would deploy officials at piers nationwide.
Besides, its officials were checking the conditions of piers, passenger boats and dinner cruise boats to guarantee their safety standard, Mr Witthaya said. (TNA)
