YASOTHON, Sept 9 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on
Monday visited flood-stricken Yasothon and Ubon Ratchathani provinces to
inspect relief measures and provide morale support to flood victims.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Interior Minister
Anupong Paochinda in the tour to the northeastern provinces which are among
dozens of provinces hit by floods caused by tropical storms Podul and Kajiki
since the beginning of September.
He met with local authorities and irrigation officials who
continue to assist affected communities with temporary shelters and relief
supplies.
The government has instructed local officials to carry out
measures to alleviate the plight of those affected.
According to Gen Anupong, the current flood situation
persisted in many areas, therefore, the government needed to dispatch teams to
help transport villagers and provide medical treatments, food and water for the
victims.
The Ministry of Interior ordered provincial administrative
units to assess the damage once the flooding subside in order to provide
compensations to the flood victims, the Interior Minister said.(TNA)
