BANGKOK, Aug 23 (TNA) — The government’s committee overseeing emergency situations resolved to extend the imposition of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations in three southern border provinces for three months until Dec 19.
Gen Wallop Raksanoh, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said the committee chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha extended the imposition of the special security law in Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala provinces from Sept 20. The imposition would spare Mae Lan district of Pattani, Betong district of Yala and Sungai Kolok and Sukhirin districts of Narathiwat.
The executive decree has been used to facilitate security operations in the deep South.
In the meeting the southern forward command of the Internal Security Operations Command proposed that Sri Sakhon district of Narathiwat be excluded from the imposition of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations after the extended period in order to reflect present situations in the district. The proposal would be forwarded to the cabinet for approval, Gen Wallop said.
Besides, the committee overseeing emergency situations resolved to assign the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to regulate the use of mobile phones in place of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, he said. (TNA)
